POSITION:
Marketing and Development Director
DEPARTMENT:Fund Development
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
PURPOSE: This fund development and marketing position is responsible for identifying, acquiring, and maintaining both monetary and in-kind resources for the agency, including volunteer management, supervising associates, working with outside consultants for contract assignments and coordinating internal and external communications.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Percent of allocation is as follows:

5% Family Success Center
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for overseeing and providing direction of all fund development activities in the agency such as events, individual, corporate, foundations, grant writing, endowments, capital campaigns and in-kind resources.
Plans and formulates all aspects of the organization’s fund raising objectives including communications, development of a marketing plan including oversight of the agency’s newsletter, the Annual Report, and establishing public relations with the media and donors.
Recruits staff and volunteers for and educates the Board of Directors’ Fund Development & Marketing Committees.
Develops a strategic fund development and marketing plan along with the budget and manages expenditures in line with the goals.
Directs and tracks progress of the Fund Development Initiatives outlined in the Business Plan, plus the fund development, major gifts and marketing plans.
Monitors the Major Gifts Campaign plan and goals. Cultivates and stewards major donors and assists on making donor calls and in supporting the Board, Staff and volunteers in implementing the major gifts campaign.
AttendS Benevon trainings and leads a team of staff, Board and volunteers in implementing the Benevon model into all fundraising and marketing activities.
Directly supervises the Major Gifts Officer, Fund Development Manager, and Marketing Assistant. Provides oversight to the Fund Development Manager in supervising the Fund Development Associate plus contract event coordinators and grantwriter. Holds 1:1 and team meetings.
Is the main liaison between the board of Directors, Advisory Board, Fund Development Committee and Marketing Task Force. Provides strategic vision over committees and task forces, ensures agency goals are communicated, and attends all meetings.
Creates and implements annual giving direct mail campaigns.
Develops and maintains an agency culture that celebrates the contributions of volunteers; cultivates volunteer participation as part of external marketing and public relations activities.
Participates in all management activities including strategic planning and organizational assessment. Attends All Staff Meetings, Administrative Team Meetings, and weekly One-to-One Meetings with the Executive Director.
Acts as official public spokesperson when the Executive Director or President of the Board is unavailable.
Responds to or initiates contact with local and national media for press coverage for First Place, respecting site and client confidentiality.
Represents First Place to the community through speaking engagements, providing tours and acting as a spokesperson when appropriate at commuity events.
Actively represents First Place to the broader community through professional groups, and corporate and foundation leaders.
Directs and monitors print production and annual publications calendar including agency Newsletter and Annual Report. Oversees all agency publications and marketing materials.
Directs and monitors the agency’s website to promote First Place. Ensures that the website is up to date with current information, creates user friendly links for donors to make donations to the agency, creates user friendly links to recruit volunteers, etc.
Oversees all fundraising and marketing policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A BA Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Fundraising, the Social Sciences, Marketing, or Finance.
A minimum of 7 years of experience participating in employee giving, grassroots or capital campaigns.
A minimum 5 years of management and supervisory experience including supervising a team of employees working toward a common goal.
Proven experience in meeting fundraising and marketing goals for a non-profit organization comparable in size or mission.
Ability to motivate staff and volunteers and in developing successful relationships in the community.
Active membership or participation in a fund raising professional association.
Must clear a Washington State Patrol Criminal History check and obtain an FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
Must have completed Red Cross First Aid Training and have a current CPR Certification.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
A valid Washington State Driver’s License.
Must have the demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member on a team.
Computer literacy using MS Word, Excel or Access, Publisher, Email and the Internet.
